In-Production

In 1996, Capcom unleashed Resident Evil, a horror video game that became one of the biggest horror gaming franchises of all time, and coined the Survival Horror genre. In 1998, Constantin set out to adapt Resident Evil into a major motion picture, hiring legendary film director George A. Romero to write and direct. Romero not only created the modern zombie film with Night of the Living Dead, and its two sequels, Dawn of the Dead and Day of the Dead, but his influence formed the foundations for everything zombie-related, including Capcom’s video game. Romero was the perfect visionary to bring the game to the screen, yet, nearly a year later, he was quietly removed…

In 2022, Key 13 Films, Image 987 Productions, and Grey Ladder Productions set out to uncover the mystery behind what happened. George A. Romero’s Resident Evil is a stylized documentary, using newly filmed interviews, archive footage, and recreated scenes from Romero’s original script, that will combine elements of the hit Capcom video game and George A. Romero’s raw, visceral style to fully immerse the audience. George A. Romero’s Resident Evil explores the history of a film never made, where passion meets loss, where fandom meets reality, and audiences everywhere will be given “the ultimate experience in survival horror”.
